TOWN HALL – MEETING ROOM 1

Present:        Peter Cohen

Also Present:   Tom Mayo, Assistant Town Manager

Peter Cohen, Chairman, called the meeting of the MCAT Board to order at 1:12 p.m.

Roll Call was taken.

Approval of Minutes

Andrew Eliason motioned to accept the minutes of the meeting of November 13, 2012 as read; Peter Cohen seconded the motion; and the motion passed.  Lolita McCray had not yet arrived but upon arrival she stated she approved the minutes as well.

Budget Status Update…Andrew Eliason said there is nothing to report this month.

Mashpee Community TV

Tom Mayo advised that Amy Davies, Director of Mashpee TV, met with Joyce Mason, Tom Mayo, David DelVecchio, and others at Town Hall.  They talked about equipment upstairs and Amy Davies may have equipment that can streamline.  Tom provided following updates:

  • Floors of Mashpee TV building done and they are making progress per last update about 2-1/2 weeks ago.
  • David DelVecchio and Amy Davies discussed cabling installed in the Mashpee TV building.
  • Mashpee TV building located in Industrial Park.
  • Tom stated Amy has a lot of great ideas in moving forward.  He said Amy did the Annual Parade and it has been running on community TV.

Broadcasting Issues

Andrew Eliason reported that a strange, new failure of the new DVD recorder occurred.  A message appeared that said there may be a problem with the disk.  As a result, Matilda Eliason tried to stop the recorder and the message disappeared.  Matilda put a new disk in and reported the problem to David DelVecchio.  Tom said Bruce Stello actively pulled data off.  Andrew said it would be good if Bruce would let Matilda know whether or not the problem is corrected.  Tom responded that they can go right into the channel and it will tell whether or not it was corrected.

Andrew said he would like to see Amy Davies stop in at one of our MCAT meetings to discuss different issues such as getting an operator’s manual put together for the Control Room operators.  Tom said his only concern is that there are so many more options that a producer can do so a step-by-step manual is difficult to write.  If you give step-by-step instructions and you leave things off then you would end up not using all the capabilities.  Peter Cohen commented that the Control Room has nothing except what Matilda wrote down.  Peter said it would be good to have at least a “bare bones” manual.  Lolita McCray asked whether or not the Control Room will be completely under Mashpee TV.  Peter said management of the Control Room will fall under Mashpee TV.

Peter asked Tom for Amy Davies’ e-mail address because he wants to invite her to a future MCAT meeting.  Tom said he does have an e-mail address for her and he will send it to Peter.

MCAT Membership

Thought was that maybe something will turn up once Mashpee TV starts operations.  Tom said they already received interest in 4 or 5 other boards as a result of a one-day event held at Town Hall.  Tom said MCAT is also going to be the topic in one of Mike Richardson’s articles on Town Boards.
Next Meeting

The next MCAT meeting is to be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, Town Hall Meeting Room 1.

Adjournment

Andrew Eliason motioned to adjourn the meeting; Lolita McCray seconded the motion; and the motion unanimously passed.  The meeting adjourned at 1:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
